Glasgow is in Scotland, which is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK). You might need a visa. The UK is NOT part of The Schengen Zone.

Glasgow is served by flights from Europe, Asia and the Americas direct into Glasgow Airport (GLA) which is located about 8 miles west of the city (£5 bus / £17 pre booked taxi).

If coming from Australasia consider airlines like KLM and Emirates who have several flights a day from their hubs.
If coming from the Americas, Glasgow is well served by Continental, Northwest Orient (KLM), Aer Lingus and Icelandair hubs as well as the usual BA ones. http://www.skyscanner.net/
There are many flights to London every day by easyjet, Ryanair and British Airways. There are also many flights to Amsterdam by KLM and easyjet. Prices do rise nearer to the flight time. There are flights from Edinburgh to Brussels.
Glasgow is also serviced by Edinburgh airport (EDI) and Prestwick (PIK).
There are regular trains from Prestwick and there are many connections, to Glasgow, from Edinburgh city centre.
From Edinburgh: Up to nine trains an hour at peak times
From London: More than one train per hour - most go direct (Virgin) but some good deals canbe got via east coast These can be got relatively cheaply if you book a fixed ticket well in advance - c £30 single. This includes overnight sleeper trains, which are Government subsidised.

Glasgow has the largest public transport network of any UK city outside of London. There are trains and planes to the highlands and islands as well are road links.
